Well... I'm home and things are cleaned up now. I had a pretty good time with CDC today. They are definitely more friendly than the DC SCCA guys, in part because they are a smaller group. The Washington Circuit skidpad was uh, rather damp this morning when we arrived. Thanks to the rain, the planned course could not be set, so they had to run a modified course layout that wasn't as technically challenging.
The ├╝ber-fast times were in the 38-39 sec. range. My best was a 42.9, and DJ beat me in his boat of a car with a 42.7...
We were able to each have 3 runs in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. They kept things moving pretty well and we were totally done (cleaned up and all) by 3:45. To make things better, the CDC guys announced that anyone who ran today could go down to the kart track and pay $10 for a karting session after the AX was done. We (of course) had to hit that up. Aside from some drivers not following passing rules and holding everyone up, it was a great track. Nice to run karts outdoors. We got about 10 minutes of karting time for our money there.
All in all, a great day. It was a nice change from the "autocross factory" that is FedEx Field.

Good times. Was disappointed with the morning session and having to basically swim into the start box, which was also filled with water. There was zero grip and I could not get a clean run in. Once things dried up a bit I finally found some speed but it was too little too late. I was happy with my final time of 39.44, I believe there was probably another .5 - 1 second in the car but I could just not find the grip in a couple sections. My times were on par with the other miatas there that were running R-comps but I feel it was more driver than anything else limiting my times. Highlight of the day was riding with DJ in the Lexus, we drifted the first 3/4 of the course and I couldn't stop laughing at the car downshifting mid-corner and squealing from start to finish. Props to DJ for keeping that thing in control, I would have had that car in the grass chasing corner workers.
Karting over at Shendandoah circuit was pretty damn fun. Those karts can really move and the course was very fast and somewhat technical. I felt they were much quicker than the VIR karts but perhaps it was just the course layout. There was some iffy drivers out there but for the most part I got some clean laps in and had a blast. Definitely worth the $10.00 and watching DJ t-bone a kart at full speed that spun out right in front of him was worth the admission fee.
I'm so pissed/jelous I had to miss this.. fml , you guys sound like you had a blast while I was working for 10 hrs today I need to get back into auto crossing in between track events. I used to run with CDC for 2 years then began tracking my car.
By looking at the pics I can see that a lot of ppl I know still run with cdc... nostalgia
Here is the burgundy 95 L that you guys saw run. The car is co-drivin' by 2 brothers. I believe this is jake.

That Subie was a monster, fun to watch destroy that track. The AWD cars were really tearing it up out there, significantly faster than anything else on the course. That car ran every heat, I don't know how may drivers were taking it out but they got a lot of practice in.
I had a pretty good experience running with the CDC group. The format is sort of strange with the runs divided up into the morning and in the afternoon, working / driving was a little confusing as they really did not explain it well to us first timers. Not a huge fan of the Washington Circuit, not sure I'd really be up for another autocross there but it was worth trying out.
Had an awesome time yesterday. Apart from the water, as everyone has said, in the morning- the course was a lot of fun and it was great to get away from the huge events at Fedex. Good to see everyone, definitely enjoyed my ride in the boat and fun to see how a bunch of us are really developing as drivers! Jake had a couple great runs, and its always a blast watching DJ qualify for the NOPI drift series. I think I managed a 39.5-- would have liked to have gotten into the 38's but I think I just need to work on the driving, and tighten some things up in the car. Great day all in all!

All I can say was it was hilarious. I had an awesome time. I am absolutely blown away by how good Shea was in that miata. Riding with him will really teach you a few things. Big props to Shea, definitely itches me to get something out there to compete with you and see if I can keep up with you. I had a lot of fun, I cant wait to see the pictures, they are going to be a definite chuckle. Even the Mazdaspeed protege was sideways in the first corner!
The karts are a blast and its actually Colin that leads them up. Much quicker than the ones at VIR and I loved the slalom-type corners at 3/4 of the course, really showed who was fast and who sucked (alright whoeve was with us out there that wasnt MM, they blow nutsacks, I mean idiocy, not just inexperience). But I had a blast and would love to go out there anytime.
PS- I got a ride in an s2000, me want...same with sheas miata...

I was happy to be 9th overall and 6th pax. I did not think that my times were nearly competitive enough to make top 10 after a discouraging performance against the army of AWD cars. The same miata beat me twice in overall times with different drivers so I have a feeling my setup could use a few tweaks but I have a benchmark to shoot for now. He was running R-comps so I managed to beat that car in the pax standings. I feel there is a bit more speed available in this car continuing on with street tires if I up the spring rates a bit more and perhaps drive better. I'm very close to biting the bullet and finding some R-comps to see if I can really compete with some of the faster cars.
Damn, I must have gotten a cone on my last run, and the car still had a bit left in it I think. Oh well, still beat a bunch of miatas, stis, evos, rx8s, and m3s. Pus I figured out my pax is different, ill be scored much better in PAX for august's autocross and hopefully ill do much better now that im figuring out what I have to do to get the sc400 to do a bit better.

Damn you Shea!!! Well 12th overall raw isnt that bad, kinda wanted a top ten, but I think my driving definitely needs some work. Feels nice to beat STi's and Evos though

David, you really impressed me out there. I was floored by your times so early in the day, consistently seconds ahead of me. It took me up until my last 2 runs to even come close to your times out there and luckily they were just quick enough to outpace you. I think you were more than capable of getting into the top 10 with a clean run. DJ was discussing one of my runs with me and explaining to me about my loss of concentration and ultimately loss in time every time I hit a cone. We both assumed that if I could get in a full clean run the car was pretty capable of a quick time. Next run out I nailed a clean run and took a full second off my best time. Still a pretty frustrating event all in all for me but I learned a lot.

I would quote this.....
If your not hitting cones, your not going fast enough.....
But I dont think any one of us had a problem with htitting cones
