That's why Plan Z involves hightailing it to VIR...easily defensible, lots of supplies, away from major cities.

There will be Zombies at VIR? Do I bring the 20 gauge, 12, 10, 8 or maybe the punt?

Hell I can't get ammo for the 8, I'll bring the 12....

I have some russian made "full brass" 12 gauge shells that are incredible. Yes, the entire shell is brass. I don't know how much powder is in them (except 'a lot'), but I think we need to find more of these for Z day.

Well, I just got a Desert Eagle the other day. So I've got me a big pistol. I've got 1,400 rounds for my AK and 5 30rnd mags. So I think I'm covered if I need to shoot my way to Canada.

Those new to MM, or who weren't here for this discussion, may need to reference this thread:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7323&highlight=zombie">http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic ... ght=zombie</a><!-- m -->

It by the way is still the only MM thread to stay ON topic for more than a couple posts.

By the time you finally hit your target with that thing, the zombies will get you!

Ever shot one? Mine is a .44mag. I had a 4in group with open sights at like 25ft. I think I could take out a man/zombie before it would be a threat.

I guess I don't see how wanting to have a few weeks worth of supplies just in case anything (man-made or natural disasters) happens, trying to avoid being one of the first group of huddled masses (zombies?) huddled in the civic center, waiting for the government to rescue me is "contributing to the problem".

There isn't... I have an emergency relief kit... it's just your timing that's sucks. Everyone doing it at the same time is how hysteria usually starts.

What ranges do you normally shoot at? I usually shoot at 25 yards - isnt 25 feet a little close? Good enough for zombie killin' i spose though.

An open sights pistol at 25 yards? Most pistol ranges are no longer than 50 feet, and didn't the FBI determine that most gunfire exchanges happen at less than 6 yards?

I dunno. I just always shoot at my house, i didnt know what official ranges were. 75 feet seemed good, and yes, open sights. I couldnt do a 4" grouping at that range, but about 10", which seemed good enough.

I'd say anything over 50 feet you're using the wrong firearm, but that's just me.

hrmm..maybe i'll adjust next time I'm practicing then. Lately I have been wanting to work on speed of aiming, which would probably be easier if i was 25 feet closer.

All I'm gonna say is if shit hits the fan, I'm out. I'm going to to back woods VA to relax and let every idiot in the DC metro area kill / shoot each other while they try to plunder the spoils of the local Walmart.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

The range I shoot at is 25 yards at its maximum. I shoot most of my short pistols at less then 15ft. The .22 J22 and the .380. I don't see much point to getting out past 25-30ft with a pistol if you are practicing for defense.

I'll give you the same advice I give everyone:

Go to a local gun store, hold and heft every pistol they have. Find the ones that feel the best to you. Grip, balance, weight. Set the ones that feel the best to the side, THEN look at pricing and features. You're going to pay between 300 and 550 dollars, but pricing should be the LEAST concern when buying a nice handgun.
