Mercedes Benz Club, Monday day at the track, only 175 dollar
#21
Weelll, i guess ill drop my .02 cents on this track event from my point of view.

Some highlights of the weekend for me...

- Getting my girlfriend and her brother to the track, they got ride alongs , now maybe they understand the madness.
- ~11,000 RPM misshift, engine still runs Smile
- open track, lots of track time.

Anyways, thoughts about the actual organization and instruction, ehhh. I was a little wary about getting on the track with this group after the opening meeting. Really makes you appreciate NASA even more, and Unk's classroom sessions.

My first session out I had an instructor (which were randomly assigned when you were in the hot grid) - he really didnt say a word to me except about trying a diff. line through 10 which i hated, and changed back to my orignal line.

After the 2nd session i was signed off solo, So the next 3 sessions were pretty different nice. Learned to talk to myself in the car, and tell myself what i was doing right and what i was doing wrong, etc.

All in all, it was a well spent $175 - free lunch and what not was nice, Bridgestone guys hooked it up. Didn't give a point by once the whole day and had plenty of space to mess around with.

The new setup felt great, the bushings made the car feel great IMO - really helped with Turn 6, 7 just slingshotting the car in that section. The rear end still wiggled a bit under hard braking, but after stiffening the rear dampening a tad and adding some tire pressure most of the 'wiggle' went away, still need to mess with some air pressures, etc.

Nice having DJ out there - im pretty sure he's h00xed. Glad you got the car fixed, and get some real tyres for hyperfest!

anywh0 onto pix - some lady was nice enough to snap some and email me them so enjoy it!

very nice......glad you didnt break anything. You have been having some tough luck with those wheels though...curb the hell outta one and now one is bent??? could have been worse i guess, looking good though.

So did you and Ray just not torque those bolts down when you reinstalled your rear and subframe a while back?

Does this explain why your cars rear end was clunking? Maybe this is a sign that you're supposed to come to Verona on the 9th.

The clunking noise is a clinking noise and spins the inside rear (had nothing to do with the loose bolts on the driveshaft except the vibration at speed) and its definitely not welded, sooo...its either another fucked diff or a 1.5, but when I plant the throttle around a corner the car fucking plants or slightly spins, but it spins towards oversteer, not understeer. So I dunno....

I picked up some evo wheels for track duty and some 225/45/17 hoosiers this weekend so for hyperfest im gonna burn off the rest of the kumho rubber on the evo wheels and then mount the hoosiers on those. Autocross with my car probably wont happen this weekend. I have too much to take care of probably. Hopefully my carbon trix hood vent is coming in along with my Crower cams..... so my project is to replace my tie rods, install the vent, and if I have time to install the cams, but I usually dont have much free tim so we will see.

I think a more important topic for this thread is how Navin pulled that chick.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
