Corvette SS engine spyshots (and ensuing GMs wrath!)

nono, i was looking at the list for a guy in a red miata that didn't belong in group 3. in doing so, i also stumbled upon the entry of the corvette guy, who did belong in group 3 and had a silly fast car.

Quote:This is it. Thanks to an anonymous tipster we have what appear to be the very first and clearest shots yet procured of the 2009 LS9 6.2-liter V8 engine powering the 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- something we weren't expecting to see until the Detroit Auto Show in January. But, since information yearns to be free -- and whoa, nelly, do these shots show off some serious information on what will be the most serious piece of weaponry in the General's quiver come next year -- here they are and here's what we know. Essentially what you're looking at is what appears to be a standard twin-screw-type supercharger mounted below a highly efficient air-to-water intercooler system. Now, we can't speculate if it's tied into the engine system or if it has an independent radiator system -- but we feel pretty confident all of this is a one-off, which means the General's running the show on every single horsepower above and beyond the stock horse output from the 6.2-liter V8 it all sits atop. Gearheads, your engine pr0n awaits in the photogallery below. While you check that out we're going to go and hide from GM's shock troopers. Hey, does anyone know the number for the witness protection program?

Sweet Mother of God!!

Ranger just took a bone stock down to the tires C6 Z06 and ran a 11.13@127mph which broke his old record. Imagine what he's going to run with a supercharged one!

A guy named Jamie Furman just took his C6 Z06 to MIR the other day and managed 10.98 @ 128.90 bone stock, stock run flat tires and 10.831 @ 130.05 with DR's. 10's bone stock...thats mighty impressive. Personally I don't see a need for a "Super" Z06, I think this one is insane enough...

Ummm....Wow.

I can't believe that is a production Chevrolet.

I don't like the using the ZR1 option code again (actually the 3rd time in Corvette history) for several reasons but I'm sure as hell not gonna lose sleep over it.

Those brakes are ridiculous.

It's unbelievable what this car has become since the 2 speed blue flame 6 cylinder that couldn't sell out, program scrapped internally about 100 times (in the 80's alone) to this all out killer.

Of course the modder in me can't help but think this thing is a pulley, exhaust and tune away from 1000hp.

edit: the more I look at it, the less I like the clear hood thingy. It's been known for a while they were going to do it, too bad they didn't just go with a taller cowl than the ZO6 and leave it at that.

That's pretty cool to say the least.

I mean, I know the only reason the Corvette exists is to sell Malibus, but it seems like someone really went out of their way on this one.

At any rate, new wallpaper. Smile

the V8/RWD combo gives me a funny feeling (perhaps not as bad as scotty's got it) but this makes me want a towel, some gatorade and then a nap

i was just figuring this was a statement saying "whoa, those brakes are huge" but they are in fact bigger than your wheels. 15.5" in the front, 15" in the rear Confusedhock:

They are only 1.5" smaller than the stock wheels of the previous ZR1

jeebus. If i ever win the lottery, that's the first thing on my list.

I also have kind of funny feelings about them calling it a zr-1 as well, because that was a special car too, and I think this will take away from that some....but holy crap that's a ridiculous car. Carbon fiber everything, lol.

That's Jake.

http://www.badboyvettes.com/about

Short version...

Quote:So this is our story.

We were at Le Mans in 2004 and we met the Corvette Racing team. We noticed that the team had unofficially embraced skull icons as a symbol of the take-no-prisoners mentality of those intense 24 hours. "TAKE NO PRISONERS" was actually scrawled on the wall of the Corvette pit.

We thought that the team should have its very own skull icon and we sketched our idea over beers on a cocktail napkin.

The C6.R "Mascot" made its debut on C6.R's b pillars the next year at the 2005 Le Mans race. They've been on the C6.R's ever since. What can we say except that we're extremely happy & proud to have our design on the coolest racecars in the world.
