Well, I mean the supra weights 3210. 500 pounds isn't so bad a trade off when you double the horsepower.

until you throw all that weight into a corner.

*shrugs* Just saying. I challenge anyone to get 400hp newer and cheaper.

RJ, you've yet to answer the question, because you know a bike is out of the question for me.

Not really. If he's looking at a 'Vette, than obviously He's considering a car that weighs more than the car he has now. I mean, a MkIV Turbo weighs 3400 pounds, but nobody here would kick *it* out of bed for eating crackers. It's cheap, it's fast, and yeah, it's 3700 lbs. But Thayer isn't exactly known for rolling Integras at Summit Point, and the street performance per dollar of a GTO isn't something to sneer at. It's not like WRX's handle like God's Own Chariot, either.

Just sayin'. Smile

Hardtop C5 is under 3200 lbs. And Thayer doesnt have a Turbo Supra... you're playing semantics to make your point.

Thats not a bad choice. You could pocket the extra cash, or use it to get a cheap truck or beater as well.

I'd like another one as a daily driver/occasional track car.... I'd also like a E46 325 coupe too... or a ITR... or... another bike... or... I have serious issues here.

 I'm not playing semantics, you're being obtuse.

He has "LS1 Camaro" listed as a choice for chrissakes! 3439! And a stick axle! 300 lbs isn't worth an extra 90 horses and an IRS?

Curb Weight - Manual (lb.) 3331. the 3400+ lb figure is for an auto trans. We can ass-u-me thayer wont be getting one of those. Again, semantics. The GTO is comparitively a lot heavier than any of the other cars listed (truck aside). Just a statement/purchase consideration.

The camarobird stick axle is also pretty good for autox/track use/spirited driving.

I personally dont like the GTO. I think they made an ugly turd out of it, and there's more to a car than 400hp for under $20k. I'd much rather have a E46 330 coupe.

I don't think I'd get a GTO. I could get a LS1 camaro that weighs basically the same or less for 8-9k less and drop some in mods and blow a GTO away. Another thing I don't like about the GTO is that it looks like a grand am.

That's fine, but don't act like I suggested an 89 Corrola or a 95 Probe GT. It's not so bizarre or outlandish of a suggestion as you guys are making it out to be.

Your suggestions automatically are subject to increased scrutiny, mr savoir of the busted, rusted, forgotten and never cool to begin with. That should be a bud light commercial.

If I were on *that* kick I'd say something like "Swap a Buick V8 into a TR6!" or something equally retarded.

If I were Thayer, and I had 13 real cash money to spend, I'd buy a POS beater, like a civic hatch or something. I'd graduate college, then buy a truck and a RWD track car. Miata, E30, RX-7, etc. Or I'd buy a 240SX and swap in an SR20DET. (What I should have done ages ago.) Or an RX-7 and something to drive when it's broken.

But I ain't thayer and those ain't my choices. So forgive me for suggesting a 400 horsepower 25mpg six speed coupe with a warranty. Wink But Thayer doesn't like them, so no more GTO talk.

Right, but for about the same money C5 > GTO, no question. They can be had for $20k and down pretty easily.
