Possibility the Supra may be sold - Ryan T - 12-19-2006 So as some of you know a guy stopped by my house over thanksgiving break wanting to buy my car. He's a teenager but his parents are loaded. He asked me how much I wanted and I told him 13,500 with the stock 16" wheels. He lowballed me and I informed him that you don't lowball someone when they never had a for sale sign on it, then he called me back yesterday and he's bringing his parents by to look at the car. If he buys it I'll obviously be in the market for another car. I'm gonna start a poll of the cars I'm thinking about but feel free to throw out other ideas. WRX: + 4 doors, awd, reliable, lots of trunk space, fast. - 4 doors, boost rot S2000: + amazing looks, vert - only two seats, couldn't ever be driven in the snow. LS1 Camaro: + awesome power, roomy interior, easy to mod - see them everywhere, its a land yacht C5 Corvette: + its a vette, fast and capable, great power, great looks - would require a loan, only 2 seats 4x4 Pickup: + 4-wheel drive, mudding, pedestrians don't walk out in front of you - no performance, sucks gas Supra: + already have lots of experience with it, handles well, great looks - not very fast and somewhat expensive to make fast. - ScottyB - 12-19-2006 man....hardtop supras are pretty rare birds. it might pay off to hang on to that a while longer. you know, GTO's are going super cheap right now off the showroom floor -- if you want to stay with a coupe. otherwise i bet you'd enjoy an S2k or maybe a C5/C5 Z06 and if you need to be red, you cuold look at a diesel shortbed for some off road fun. personally i'd get a kick out of an old CJ jeep - .RJ - 12-19-2006 Beater + Motorcycle. I have a '92 integra I'll sell you....
- Mike - 12-19-2006 vette or wrx... i'm angry at my s2000 right now. turbo supra? i wouldn't mind one of those. - Ryan T - 12-19-2006 ScottyB Wrote:man....hardtop supras are pretty rare birds. it might pay off to hang on to that a while longer. hardtop supra's are rare, but there are usually at least 3 or 4 for sale on supraforums, so I could get another one. Besides, I have a real short attention span when it comes to cars. Mike, why are you mad at the s2k? - .RJ - 12-19-2006 Ryan T Wrote:Besides, I have a real short attention span when it comes to cars. You arent even close to me, Dave or Rex.... Ryan T Wrote:Mike, why are you mad at the s2k? Mikeys mad because his used car has used car problems. Mikey is too fickle.... - Mike - 12-19-2006 Ryan T Wrote:Mike, why are you mad at the s2k? there are holes wearing in to my roof (i can see light out of them). no 5 year old car should need a new roof. - Mike - 12-19-2006 .RJ Wrote:Mikeys mad because his used car has used car problems. have you ever owned a car this new that needs a new roof? have you heard of anyone else who has? didn't think so, dolt. - .RJ - 12-19-2006 Mike Wrote:have you ever owned a car this new that needs a new roof? I've owned cars that have needed lots of things. Thats what happens when you buy a used car. You did your research, and this issue is apparently well known, no? The RC51 gets shitty gas mileage and overheats in traffic. But I knew this going in. It is what it is. - Mike - 12-19-2006 the issue wasn't very prevalent yet when i purchased it. shitty gas mileage is something that is on the spec sheet when you buy the bike... overheating in traffic? i think most bikes do. i could understand replacing a roof after maybe 20 years, but i didn't anticipate owning for that long. 5 years is just silly. - .RJ - 12-19-2006 Mike Wrote:i think most bikes do. Never a problem on the CBR, and the RC will start overheating within a few minutes of sitting in stop-and-go - and this is in very mild weather. Mike Wrote:5 years is just silly. The top on my '99 miata was looking pretty ragged... that was last year, so the car was 6 years old then? No holes but it sure wasnt new. Same with the rear window. My coworkers benz 430 convertible top is sagging on the inside. Status quo for convertible tops IMHO. - G.Irish - 12-19-2006 The WRX seems like the most balanced choice. It's quick, plenty of aftermarket, no problem in the snow, can handle very well with only a few small mods, what's not to like? Second choice would be the C5. Or you could join the Dark Side. You'll never look back... - Andy - 12-19-2006 Do you have any plans for future trackdays? If so, buy something that you can get outright with money to spare for "upgrades." If not, get whatever is the shiniest thing going except the Camaro. Yuck. - CaptainHenreh - 12-19-2006 G.Irish Wrote:The WRX seems like the most balanced choice. You can have them for 20 if you find a GM employee to give you a discount. 18 used all day long, even for a 6.0. Six speeds aren't too tough to find, and while it isn't as sexy as a 'vette, they are pretty damned sweet. - Ryan T - 12-19-2006 G.Irish Wrote:Or you could join the Dark Side. Drives/looks like shit but because of that sweet sweet engine, I can't say a damn thing to him about that pile of poop he's pimping around. - G.Irish - 12-19-2006 Eh, the GTO would be a good choice if it didn't weigh 3700 lbs. - CaptainHenreh - 12-19-2006 G.Irish Wrote:Eh, the GTO would be a good choice if it didn't weigh 3700 lbs. Well, I mean the supra weights 3210. 500 pounds isn't so bad a trade off when you double the horsepower. - .RJ - 12-19-2006 500 lbs is not an insignificant amount of weight to throw around. - Ryan T - 12-19-2006 CaptainHenreh Wrote:G.Irish Wrote:Eh, the GTO would be a good choice if it didn't weigh 3700 lbs. until you throw all that weight into a corner. |
