why can't they do something about those disgusting taillights. i hope the aftermarket takes care of that one, because it ruins an overall likeable car for me.

why? just the general shape?

hatches are the most utilitarian things in the world... save for a nice leatherman.

That's fine, but they don't look good - but you don't buy an STi so you can cram it full of shit and go on weekend trips. sure that's a nice perk, but that's not really what a car like that should be made for. So yeah, the general shape of a hatchback is kind of meh...

I really like the shape of that STi release, although the rear still looks like butt (though the twin exhaust are a neat touch).

i understand you don't like the aesthetics of hatchbacks, but when given a chance to make something more usable, why not?

Well, for starters subaru already has the forester, outback, legacy, and impreza wagons. If they want to be a wagon company, they should just say so. I thought they'd at least keep their flagship kind of sleek looking.
