my commute up there from mclean wasnt horrible. 45-50min in the morning, usually 1hr in the afternoon.

and there is a certain "office" who is headquartered in chantilly....

I would not have the house/garage I have now in McLean.

Technically, it is when you 'register' a car. I could own the same car for 30 years but if I keep letting my tags lapse I'd have to reinspect each time I registered it, I know, I know .

Actually I used to live in Md. and did inspections for 5 yrs. As long as the car doesn't change names you don't have to have it reinspected. You have to have it inspected the first time you register the car in your name. You don't even have to get tags. You can title it and let it sit for 30 yrs then just go to dmv and get tags.

So if I let my tags expire on the mustang say in a few years I want to reregister for tags all I have to do is pay the tag fee?

Yes as long as you don't change the name on the title. The only exception to that would be if you where to give the car to a father or son then they don't have to inspect it either. Atleast that the way it was in the part of Md I am from. Eastern Shore Md that is.
