you don't have to pay if you get a rejection sticker.

Register it at school, they don't require emissions in Rockingham County.

If you take it back to the same shop.

You'd be better off to cut a cat in 1/2, gut it, replace with a piece of straight pipe, weld it back together and put it where the cat is suppose to go, or get an 'emissions/inspection' friendly exhaust to bolt on for your inspection. If a shop gets caught forging an inspection they get fined big $$$ and loose their right to inspect for a period of time.

I have a old cat if you need it.

but i dont think i can do the gutting the exhaust thing because i have a downpipe.. the original cat was on the original dp.

ideal situation is to have a "cat" regardless of functionality, and a straight peice of pipe the exact same length with a flange on each end. Just throw on the cat for inspections and put the pipe back on for the other 364 days.

yes, you pay for the inspection if you get rejected, but the followup inspection is $1

If you take it back to the same station. In MD the rate is $60 or so (not hard set like VA), if you fail and come back you have to pay 1/2 again!

maryland only inspects when you buy the car, though.

Technically, it is when you 'register' a car. I could own the same car for 30 years but if I keep letting my tags lapse I'd have to reinspect each time I registered it, I know, I know Smile.

less traffic and more crabs (both depending on _where_ you live) Big Grin and I can't do my job anywhere else (and not have a 2hr commute). Believe me, I hate this godforsaken state as much as anyone else, I want SoVA back dammit!

Do you notice higher taxes there as well?

For what? Income? Right now, w/ the amount of money I make, and christina makes and our age, no kids, any state is going to rape me.

Sales tax is the same as VA now 5%. No car tax/personal property.

MD income taxes are in fact higher. Not sure how much that amounts to, state is always a lot less than fed. The taxes alone wouldnt keep me from moving to maryland. Maryland keeps me from moving to Maryland
