Your an ignorant man or that was an ignorent comment. Thats all I have to say.

If you would like proof of it, I have plenty. I doubt you have enough experience that would prove your "Experience" over owning one my entire driving time.

For the first time in my 3.5 years of owning two, this weekend was the first time it broke down, and guess what? Its cause I either put in a faulty relay or walbro sent me a faulty fuel pump. So that would mean the DSM has a perfect record. I daily drive it, take it to the track, do 12-15 autocrosses a year, and its putting down about 320whp without a tune. So if you wouldnt mind, shut up with obvious ignorance of the subject matter.

driven mine for 3 years with no problems, encountered some tuning and kink issues due to my buildup, only reason any car breaks is with extensive modification. In which most DSMers do, thus the reason they haul ass then break.

Im sorry, its no offense to you, but having people think my car is fwd and 140 hp is kind of...well lets say offending when I have something that is completely different.

Actually the neon engines are "larger". 4g63 is I beleive 1997 and the neon is like 2003.

I know Avengers are. They where made one the same assy. line as the 2g eclipses.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright now that ive gotten over you saying avengers are dsms....pm me if you want to know what REAL DSMs are considered, and what is CONSIDERED DSMs to the dsm community. Technically not evne 2gs are DSMs as Diamond Star Motors died before the first 2g was produced. A different company then came into effect. PM for more details...

Hell I didn't know I would cause quite a stir. I know 1g's are the holy grail of dsm. I have one. But isn't Dsm the combo of mitsu and Chrysler? I guess if you look at it in that perspective the 2g's also have one ( 99 eclipse)and avengers also have one (96 avenger) and sebrings which are all basically the same (speaking os the n/t eclipses and talons they have chrysler engines.) are more respective of the dsm name. While the 1g's are all mitsu. And from the inside you can't tell my Avenger from the eclipse. I have heard some people say 2g's aren't dsm's but I don't think chrysler and mitsu split until 99.

In October 1985, the two parent companies officially incorporated Diamond Star Motors as a way for each company to benefit from the other's strengths. Shortly afterward in April 1986, ground was broken on a 1.9 million square-foot (177,000 m┬▓) production facility in Normal, Illinois. The plant was finished in March 1988 and could produce 240,000 new vehicles each year.

The later history of DSM is complicated by the shifting relations of its two corporate parents. Chrysler actually allowed Mitsubishi to purchase its equity stake in the factory as early as 1991. Manufacturing of Chrysler vehicles was after that by contract only, and periodic rumors persisted that the contract might not be renewed. Diamond Star Motors was officially renamed to Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America, Inc. on July 1, 1995.

The Galant sedan was Mitsubishi's own design, carried over from Japan. The Talon, Eclipse, and Laser (referred to as DSMs or occasionally TELs) were smaller 2+2 sports cars.

Okay so whats up with the 2g's? They aren't fully Mitsu. The n/ts have chrsyler engines and such. And the avengers and sebfings are basically the same car. The sheet metal will even transfer between them. And the interior is identical. Hell My avenger even has mitsu stickers on the body panels and such.

"What's up with the 2G's" is that 2G's weren't manfactured by Diamond Star Motors. 1G's were.

If it wasn't manufactured by Diamond Star Motors, then it isn't a DSM.

And since Diamond Star Motors became Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America, Inc, there ain't no more DSM.

Are you that insecure that you really care what people think about what is under the hood of your car?

When they ask, just whip it out and swing it around it if makes you feel better

Now, try explaining you race an acura integra. Or a mazda miata. I really dont care if someone else thinks its boring and slow, I'm having fun Smile

telling people you "race" a civic can only be bested by a metro. or when you say "road courses." christ, people are dense.

Exactly, the only reason 2gs are in the "dsm" community is because we share the same power and drivetrain basically, and thats only with the turbo ones. 1g na are 4g63 without turbo, but 2g are totally different NA engines, 420A.

PS-im not exactly insecure, I just hate for my car to be hated on so much when people are not informed. If I was insecure I would have gone out and bought an s2000 or evo or wrx(I drove every one of them before buyting my gsx), but I didnt like them at all compared to my dsm (personal opinion). But I am fine with myself, I just try to up the image of the DSM as (mike) and others say, dsms are piles of shit, when they are far from it. Unfortunately, the DSM gets abused by 16 year olds who just buy the car and throw on a boost controller or new turbo and up the boost without doing it correctly and blow the engine. Then they blame it on crankwalk, or that the car has a weak engine or bs like that. Yet everybody loves the EVO, they are the same engines, hold the same horsepower, only difference is they have slightly better heads (even that is debatable). DSMs have their faults, but it typically is not what people say they are.

Comments like these, "please don't bother citing one example of one lasting longer than it should have; i've been around cars and dsms long enough to know better." are why there is so much ignorance in car communities. Apparently, he would know a lot more about DSMs than I would and of course, all the dsm community. But then I would like to know his definition of a Pile of Shit. Having the strongest 4-cylinder engine on the market apparently still classifies it as a POS, and of course dismiss the 15+ years of Mitsubishi involved in rallying with this engine alone had to have been stupid, cuz you know, they're POS. I would like to know where you got your high horse.

i'm done with this. if you want me to say "dsms and mitsus are reliable" then i'll do just that.

guys, i think dsms and mitsus are awesome reliable. the stigma for unreliability they have is all bullshit, and has no bearing on why mitsu ranks and has always ranked at the bottom of the japanese reliability scale.
