But if I get a chance maybe Ill go into more detail on some of the points Maeng has already mentioned and share my feelings

Honestly I think over the years those in office have become more and more comfortable with the idea that they are above the law and beyond reproach. Clinton and Bush being the latest examples.
I think there needs to be more of a crackdown on this questionable behavior because it erodes people's trust in the gov't (and rightly so).
The problem is who is going to hold who accountable? But again, I think the fact that information spreads so much more quickly these days with information technology is going to change the balance of politics and power for better or worse. The average person has much more power to spread information today than even 20 years ago and I think that will make it harder to keep corruption and scandal under wraps. The Abu Gharaib scandal was a perfect example.
Now the question is whether punishment can be brought upon those in power who've done wrong, or at the very least, have betrayed the public's trust.

Can you imagine any of us running for office. Sure we all know we're joking on here, but I can see people having a field day with all the "Fill in the Blank"'s Sister posts.

i think we all have way too many incriminating photos of each other for any of us to run for any sort of public office. the smear campaigns would be fun though:
"brian maeng wants to be your next governor. he plans to increase funding for education and public safety. he plans to cut taxes and take control of the state budget. but he cant even control his own car. can you trust this man?

Can we all agree that both the Clinton and Bush administrations suck balls? Just cause one screwed up doesn't exonerate the other from theirs.

Now there's a reason to move out of the country... Funny thing is that the antics of Rep. McKinney last week mirror the antics of Hillary Clinton, who has a known reputation on the Hill for loosing her temper (and lashing out at security).
But back to the original topic at hand. I grew up in the intelligence community, and by no means is your employment with an intelligence agency classified information. However, there are people who work under clandestine organizations within these intel agencies, and the details of their employment are kept under wrap. I have to admit that this recent turn of events with the leak bode ugliness on part of Bush and Cheney, especially since they were so quick to verbally fire anyone part of the ordeal in the organziation not too long ago. This and the immigration issue could also be the final straw for the current party lines for both the GOP and DNC... I sure hope so as we're getting nowhere with the current situation. It's quite possible that McCain could pull a lot more support come this time next year for the 08 election.

It confuses me a little with regard to the venom that I see from both parties and their supporters because in my mind, both parties are shitty excuses for representatives of the people. Bush is a jackass for all of the above mentioned charges. Clinton is a jackass, as well, for all of the above reasons including finishing off the unions, a job that Reagan started by the way. Go teamwork.
