"Mitsubishi did for instance with the Eclipse (different league I know)," different league??? i think not  and im pretty sure the skyline with be a g35 with different fascia/body all together and AWD.

An Evo is an overweight underpowered grocery getter? Since when?

He was talking about the all new Eclipse that just came out, which tips the scales at around 3500 lbs hock:. Not that the Eclipse was a super lightweight before, but it was reasonable. This new car doesn't even have awd and its much heavier than any of the previous Eclipses.
But anyway, hopefully the new GTR will be more Viper than Murcielago and weigh something reasonable. However, judging from the weight of the G35x (AWD) which comes in at 3677 lbs we might very well end up with a Japanese Lambo.

I don't know what you're talking about. Mitsubishi stopped making Eclipses in 1999.

real eclipses anyway...he's talking about this piece (i'm not a fan at all, but i hear it has quite the powerful motor - too lazy to back it up with numbers):

haha, ok
I was talking about this car...263hp V6
aaaanyways, yes as stated above I do believe the new GTR will basically be a G35 with AWD and new fascia etc...but most importantly what will most likely be a twin turbo V6...so it'll have the power and torque to back up the hefty weight. The last generation Japanese grand touring cars ("sport" if you want whatever) like the Supra (for example, since I worship them) weighed 3500+ lbs, and, in the case of the Supra, could do 5.2 0-60 and the 1/4 in 13.2 with a good driver, and thats with 320hp.

i was reading i think road and track or car and driver or motor trend or whatever when that new eclipse came out. it said that its like an inch wider than the new ford explorers. surely they can reduce the weight on it by making it smaller than SUVs

what he said^^^^^
does anybody know how much the new skyline gtr price is going to be.
put it this way, the infiniti g35 with just the sport suspension and the 6 speed MT, is right at 40k. so just add twin turbo, AWD, racing seats, brakes, and then slap the skyline name on it. Im expecting a price in between a corvette and a viper
I concur. If Nissan has brain one in their heads, they'll put the C6 Corvette straight in their sights.

they are going to have to do a lot more than just throw some boost onto a regurgitated overweight sedan platform if they want to sell them for 50k and compete with born and bred sportscars.
The concept I saw last year looked like a cross between a G35 and a Caddy CTS. It looked awesome with sharp angular lines and strakes on the hood. Twin Turbo + Attessa AWD = ~70k was what R/T said.
Two feet.
I don't understand the excitment over the skyline. They are heavy and don't have all that much horsepower from the factory. Not to mention they aren't the most attractive cars in the world.

in stock form, i totally agree with you. but the hype about the skyline is basically that it has great fundamental attributes and can be made much quicker relatively easily.
i'm kinda weird....i like the R32's looks the best. i dunno, i guess it's the blister fenders :o
