The prototype will be unveiled in a matter of days on the Nissan site (some say the counter is inaccurate but in a few days nonetheless)
And since it'll be based on what is virtually the G35 coupe over here, lets hope we get it this time. hock:
(whatever it turns out to be i'd still take the Nismo Z Tune over it anyday)
link doesn't work for me. :?
what's new on it?

Try updating your flash player? that might work...
It's still looking somewhat like this in the artwork they show on the site, except with a more angular lines and raked hood, etc...

I'm curious to see what direction they're going with the engine. My guess is a twin turbo V6. Nissan would really turn the world on its ear if they offer a turbo V8 of some sort though...

They'll use the same engine thats in the z/altima/maxima/etc..... no sense not too. There's a twin turbo race version of that engine running around in JGTC.

Yeah, the most likely option, just fantasizing.
I remember hearing one of the Japanese Nissan guys saying that they wanted this Skyline to be something of a Japanese Viper. If that's what they're aiming for then they're gonna need 400+ hp which would certainly be welcome

That's pretty bad when you say anything is ugly compared to the decidedly unsexy Skyline
But on the Viper comment, I think he probably meant the philosophy of the Viper, which is to say, put a whole lot of motor in the car, everything else be damned. I personally hope the Skyline gets side exhausts so rich guys can burn their legs while trying to get out of it.

The concept that R&T had on its cover last year looked so much better. More G35ish. The concept above looks in a riced out Z33

I'll agree that the above car is pretty ugly, but the concept they are showing on http://www.gtrproto.comin the first post looks a LOT better.
I'll give the new GTR the benefit of the doubt, it's an iconic and cult car in Japan and I doubt they'll let it turn into an overweight underpowered pig, not after what they achieved with the R34. If it comes to the states, we've already had a few years worth of experience with the VQ35 V6 in the 350Z/G35, too. Top Secret already developed this car from the base R35 Skyline, with a TT V8 swap.
Goodspeed Wrote:I doubt they'll let it turn into an overweight underpowered pig, not after what they achieved with the R34. The R34 is an overweight pig
I suppose, but Mines recently turned a 57.8 second Tsukuba lap time in their full interior, ~600HP R34 GTR, closing in on the lap record held by a much more "race" HKS Evo 8. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they won't do what Mitsubishi did for instance with the Eclipse (different league I know), go from a light AWD sports car to a overweight, underpowered grocery getter. As stated above in other posts with the Viper comment, expect the next GTR to be a performer.
