Indeed, that's why I'm bypassing the majority of mine heh.

If I was going all out on this car I'd just invest in a standalone, but I'm still really debating whether to do so or just buy a car with much more potential in the next 2 years or so.

a suggestion when launching...try to drop the clutch when the engine is GAINING revs, and not when it is DROPPING revs. I heard that this lesses then chance of the engine bogging down. What year is the S2K? Does it have the 2.2l? A magazine mentioned that a feathering of the clutch at 3000 rpm was the best technique for fast times. But then you will fry the clutch very quickly.

A friend of mine tracked his 300+ awhp Evo MR (Evan, remember Chris?) and he seemed to be fine from what he told me. No broken limbs or car parts, maybe a bit of detonation from the tune, but that's it.

I think danger in a car is relative. It all depends on how you drive what you drive.

how many events has he attended? the simple fact is after enough time, everyone messes up and will bend some metal. i'd much rather not do it in something that overpowered.

So you don't have the desire to drive a high horsepower car on the track simply because you could crash it? You could crash any car, at any relatively high speed.

By your reasoning, you might as well not even own a car like that, because you can't get the most of out it unless you track it and if you track it you have the potential to crash and die. I've met plenty of people that track high horsepower cars and have yet to injure themselves or their cars. Like I said before, it depends on how hard you push your car and what your skill level is.

Yup. Chris was mature and conservative. Knew his car's limits well. He was a great driver for a beginner, but he didnt use half of that 300hp. There are many things to learn before you start putting the hammer down hard. The talented drivers realize this quickly.
Nothing wrong with tracking a high hp car if you are mature and dont come in with an ego.
Ive had a couple EVO drivers and an STi or two where I wondered if I was going to get a trip in an ambulance before the weekend was over.

300 horsepower is overpowered?

Must be why you drive a honda.
