Ford has always had a history of making small mistakes that create big problems. The smallest manufacturing process problems can yield results overlooked, its not a huge deal that they have a recall on a car,but if you pay $200k for a piece of metal, you should at least feel safe driving it. The sad part is that the technology put into the GT is also supposed to be used on other cars, such as the concept Shelby GR-1 and Cobra. If they want to be able to market something like that, the GT really can't be known as a car built wrong.

So will this problem drop teh initial MSRP of the vehicles or will they fix it and then keep the price the same?

The recall may scare away some buyers but I doubt it'd be enough to adversely affect the sales to the point where they're collecting dust in Ford showrooms (the few lucky enough to get one).

I'm sure the owners felt 100% safe.

The ford dealership thats about a mile from my house has a red one with a sticker price of 148k. We stopped and looked at it yesterday. This one was brand new and already had shit fucked up on it. Both rims on the passenger side had a small scratch on them. Also, the fenderwell was not completely in place and one of the pop-rivets that hold it in place was about to fall out.

If that is what happens to them just sitting, roped off in a showroom, I'd hate to see what would happen if you drove it a lot. Wink

It is a very good looking car, but I can't personally see dropping 148k for something with 50 more hp than a viper, the same torque and a sticker price that is 60k more.

I could never drive a "race" car that I would be afraid to even scratch, nor would i ever buy one for $150,000 that already has messed up wheels.

Yeah that's sacrilege. Ford should repo their GT from any dealership that doesn't keep there's in pristine condition. And publicly flog the general manager while they're at it.

For this year's keynote address at the Ford dealer's convention, "Until customer service improves, the public floggings will continue. All dissenters will be tarred and feathered." - Bill Ford, CEO
