One thing I've never liked about racing with NASA is that you can't see the racing entry list until it's almost time for the event, it would make the decision about what car to bring much easier.  Although if I'm the only car in class, I can get a fancy trophy girl picture lol

There were no SSM cars at Summit this past weekend. If that gives any indicator

Go out in DE4 and let me ride. I haven't been in a Miata.

Bought some ridealongs and a tent pass. Probably going to bring a family sized tent and a big cooler. Really wish I could bring the Demon but I'm not sure how they handle trucks with trailers even if I do get the transmission issues sorted out in time.

How they handle trucks with trailers?  99% of the paddock is truck and trailers  Tongue

No reason to bring the demon unless you are putting it on track. Otherwise it will just be a hassle.

Yeah I got a touring lap and hyperdrive pass but I'm too chickeh-shit to do the hyperdrive in it. I'm operating on the assumption I'm not going to be in the paddock since I'm not racing or working. Would be cool to have it there for the touring lap but it's probably not worth the hassle. Dropping the pan on the trans tonight but I'm pretty hopeful it's going to be a quick fix unless the band broke.

Taking the Ralliart to Mid-Atlantic Speed and Custom next week to have the turbo looked at. I might just be rocking the truck...

I got the turbo package (I was gonna get the ride-alongs anyways) which comes with "premium" parking at turn 6 too. I haven't been to an actual track event yet so bare with me here. They don't exactly have a lot of details released just yet. The Hyperdrive was actually sold out when I got it so I'm expecting a bit of a cluster-fuck in that regard.

Hyperfest is a cluster fuck. Like... one I kind of miss going to, but not enough to actually work the event anymore.

But Hyperdrives at Hyperfest are usually on Patriot, correct? Not the main course.

Camping/Parking

1) Unless you have a NASA pass, you're parking in the big Field outside the NASA paddock. (To your right after crossing the bridge)

2) Camping is technically only in the camping areas outside the paddock (think the areas on the road before you pass the pond on your left and stop at the stop sign in the paddock near the gas station). A camping pass is required

3)We usually get away with non workers camping by the showers in the NASA paddock without a camping pass, but you'll need to park outside the paddock (see 1)

4) since you can't park in the paddock without working, it's safe to assume you'd be sleeping in your car in the lot, which will not fly with the VIR people since you'd be cheating the system

So either your options are, Get a NASA pass and sleep in your car in the paddock, or get a camping pass and sleep in a tent in the paddock (leaving your car in the lot) or camping with the non NASA people outside the paddock. MM'ers that need a camping pass, please post up here.

All students camping should get together and think about whose vehicle will be most useful to get in and out of the paddock and use that one. Ditch all the rest in the parking lot. (smart money says someone with a pickup or large vehicle should be chosen)

Or pool your money and rent a golf cart from the company on hand (virgina golf carts or something). Last year I paid $263.25 for the rental from Fri-Sunday. You can get a standard cart with front/rear seating and fit at least 7-8 people on there as needed. They also had some 3 row carts, but those may be priced differently. The golf cart is infinitely easier to maneuver around crowds and VIR in general.

You will need to call them ASAP to reserve one.

You can also launch it off the monster truck jump in the pitch black, do some hot laps on the lawn mower race track, and tackle the offroad course...or so I heard.

I'd like to come say hi saturday eve, but not sure I'm thrilled about $45-$55 for a 3-day pass being my only option, am I missing some more reasonable guy-who-just-wants-to-come-say-hi-and-have-a-beer ticket?

Wow I just looked at the tickets. That's new for this year. Last year was like $30 for the weekend. That's a bummer.
