I lolled at this response.

I have let other students drive my race cars before (see Jake borrowing mine for HPDE when he was still learning, Cabell autocrossing it).  However, this one has a really nasty carbon-kevlar clutch and in as little as one or two stalls can glaze the clutch.  Just not worth it.

I was so damn nervous about breaking something. Thankfully that E36 was forgiving and I wasn't ultimately pushing it super hard (although at the time it was OMG so fast I am racekor driver). If the clutch in your new M3 build is anything like the Spec E46s I've driven (it sounds... even more aggressive) I'd be super wary about others driving it.

I would be out right terrified to drive your car for a list of reasons lol, just DE teach me with Jake and I’ll call it even.

I think in the right taste they can be funny, like FAT F30 [emoji16] I really don’t like plates at all so if I have to have them, might as well have some fun with it, and then hang them up for the mems once it’s over. Personally I love the look of one yellow european plate on the back of a car, call me crazy.

Okay so here's where I am confused, I talked to Dension and they told me there was no way to do bluetooth on this car as it didn't know how to interpret the signals? Yet I can use on of these units that would hook up to the headunit via RCA inputs:

https://tinyurl.com/yauxfp7w

So I am wondering why I can't just use this piece, and then connect an RCA-to-AUX adapter and then even a bluetooth to AUX adapter (like I use on my home stereo), and call it a day.

Anyone have knowledge on a set up like this or the best way to get some tunes in this car?

Cuz that's some chinesium voodoo that no Porsche mechanic nor Professional AV Persontype is gonna put in a car. Probably turn that shit into Megatron or something.

The guy from Dension said the bluetooth modules wouldn’t work, so I don’t understand why as I thought it was all the same signal once the box converts it.

The day finally came to go get the car, just happened to land on the same day of Karting! It was a cool way to start the day but definitely added to my sleep deficit and cause for worry later on in the day when I was on the way to West Virginia. Went to bed the night before at 3am thanks to working all night for the busses, and had the nice surprise of my iPhone alarm going off hours later at 5:30 for karting. Picked up Scott and Sahm, and slept in the backseat of my car as we drove to Richmond in the morning, finding out the EcoBoost could take me at a roll, Joe's suspension was ruined from full-sending while going offroading, and the Kia salesman would not take our offer of $500 with the window down on the highway Sad

Went first in a four-man team of karting and then waited for Scott to finish up so we could grab an MM sticker, and get on the road for West Virginia with snow in the forecast... The first hour was fine, and then the snow started coming down. Keep in mind, I was running slightly worn Pilot Super Sport tires on the car, granted with xDrive, but that proves to do nothing when your tires are hard as a rock on a patch of ice lasting for miles. As the snow started to build, we were going higher into the mountains of Maryland, slowly watching it build up on the un-salted roads, as the distance got foggier. A common sight started to be cars pulled off to the side, cars crashed into each other, and later on, cars flipped upside down in the ditches on the side...even semi's stuck in the middle of the road, jack-knifed and spinning tires trying to get out of the road, ALL WHILE I HAD SUMMER TIRES ON.

Found out I couldn't stop when I harnessed my inner drifter and avoided by inches first the minivan on the right of me, and then the guardrail on the left, all while sliding down a mountain with tires locked and car at a 45degree angle. After this, it was a strict 30mph max speed for me, which lasted for almost 2 hours as the snow/ice only got worse, and no snow plows or ice were to be seen for miles as we trecked up the mountain. All I could do was attempt to ride in the tracks that semi's left in the snow, while trying to keep my distance as much as possible. Finally started to come down the mountain but not before sliding once again, this time being about a foot from a mile drop off...and continuing this slide for almost a quarter of a mile, luckily with no cars again and somehow harnessing my inner Ken Block.

Comically, right under the sign for entering West Virginia, is where the road immediately turned from white to black, evidence of actual snow plows and salting (I never thought I would be so happy to see salt on the roads). After this the roads got much better, the snow turned to rain, and I got to the dealership at 6pm, an hour after they were supposed to close. For those keeping track, this was 10 hours of driving later.

It was a Chevy dealership in WV, as the one previous owner had traded the car in after 12 years of summer driving, for a new C7. I assume this dealer didn't know how to sell a Porsche in this part of town, and so I swooped into Mr. T (Yes that was my salesman's name) and saw the car. Had already put a $1,000 deposit down to make sure it could be mine and after inspecting the car, saw it drove perfectly fine but had a few cosmetic items which I think helped my negotiating on the price.

So I bought this new rear wheel drive car with again, Continental summer tires on, and decided it probably wasn't a good idea to go back and crash within a day of owning the car. So Scott and I grabbed dinner, got a hotel a few minutes away, grabbed a rack of beer, and hunkered down for the night until the roads cleared up. This frunk is already proving to be useful for transportation :p We watched the Olympics, and then turned on an ironic show called "Road to Hell" about semi's stuck on snowy roads in disastrous conditions.

Side note, how many people had to use these for hangers before they decided to put up warning signs next to everyone in the hotel room?!

The next morning we got up, put the top down and started out way back to Harrisonburg. Nicely enough, Waze took us on 33 on the way back, so I got to really test the car out in just my journey back home. After getting to the base of 33, we stopped and grabbed the next biggest pizza to Bennie's I've ever seen, before getting to the campsite and then ripping down the mountain. Washed the car, then dropped Scott off and headed home.

On the way home I saw Bari and decided to stop near D-Hall so he could see my new car. As we stopped, we accidentally found the best new place for MM meets, as people driving by stopped, asked questions, came and parked, and we ended up having about 10 cars from the two we started with, and recruiting three new members in the process by others walking by (probably after realizing the Chick Fil A next door was closed on a Sunday and we were the next best thing Big Grin).

All in all, 36 hours later, this turned out to be one of the most memorable moments of car buying and general college life I've ever had. It was a crazy way to start and end things, and I could not be more happy with the car. I have a list of things I already want to do, so now it's onto working again until I can afford these damn Porsche parts Wink
