super jealous of your route, you're going through some incredible country in Montana from what i've heard. don't break down in Gary, IN and watch your speed through OH

Sounds like you are well prepared for the trip!
This is where my idea of a craigslist crawler that you can enter a route and it would shop the cities along the trip would come in handy. Oh well, I'll start looking for parts you can pick up for me on the way.
David and I did a similar route on our post-grad cross country trip. If you have the time, I would strongly recommend going through Yellowstone and foregoing Mt Rushmore (if you are shifting the route a little to go by Mt Rushmore). We were excited about seeing it and it was a fairly 'meh' stop. You can't get very close, and it looks exactly like every photo you've seen, IMO

Hmm, good to know. I'll take a look at the route options and see what I can do. Rushmore appeals to me mostly because it's literally on the route (I-90) but if I can stop by Yellowstone and not add a ton of time, I would do that. Thanks!

Mikey did the northern route, so he might have some feedback for you.
My wife drove it awhile ago and she said Montana was really boring and Rushmore was pretty lame. YMMV.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Haha, was going to say the exact same thing when I saw the route. Even if you don't think you can spare the time to get to Yellowstone (even half a day would be worth it) I'd suggest skipping Mt Rushmore and taking a slight detour through the Badlands, its mostly driving so you won't lose much time but much more interesting.

I'll be on I-90 the whole way and that deli town looks to be off of I-80 so it's a bit too far south... same deal for Yellowstone, I can't afford to kill half a day of my trip there. Sounds like I'll have to go back another time. For this trip, a selfie with Mount Rushmore will do. Might be able to get away with the Badlands, I'll look into that more. Thanks Davids!

Also curious about any issues you encountered along the way with the Truck. I may or may not be tuning in for the asking price for the truck...

I truly just put fuel in it. The washer fluid sprayer didn't work, but I discovered it was out of fluid. Suddenly it worked again.
I'll come up with asking price this evening or so.

not necessarily, but it could delay that. Plus, early spring is one of the worst times to buy a car anyway.
to be real though: i probably won't although i like entertaining the idea

If you buy it, IDGAF what you do with it.
Fixed the cruise control last night and wished I had poked around more at the hotel in Fargo. My investigation on the road consisted of going "yep, it's broke" and going inside where it was warmer. Turns out the cable from the actuator slipped off the throttle actuator doodad... ugh. Oh well, it's fixed and I drove the red truck today. This 'un is going to be parked for a bit as my weekends coming up involve travel/racing and the red truck is far better for that.
