M2 Hard Core. Didn't get their padding though, I read that OG has some that's better.
And that thing is ridiculous! Everyone is saying turbo but that's not the direction I want to go in.

Nice, I had Harddog's padding and their cover. (padding novel incoming)
Their's is single durometer padding that BSCI makes for them IIRC, basically what you'd find in most track cars. It'll save your noggin in an accident on the street (say, getting rear ended), but it won't be comfy - it's really meant to work in unison with the protection of a helmet. OG will probably have some single durometer in a different thickness, but in terms of better - they have BSCI dual durometer padding which is a layer of soft and squishy stuff around the usual single-durometer pad. Much better for an unhelmeted head on the street, but it'll be tricky to work clearance/top wise as its thick stuff.
Either way, you'll want to cover the padding as it turns rock-hard with sun exposure. You can make your own for whichever padding you choose with this stuff.

I know I keep shouting about turbo Miatas to anyone who'll listen - for the money, they're absurd, silly-fun street cars but they make cantankerous (and expensive) track cars. That same JayL guy has other vids on his channel of shredding transmissions at track days. They can be reliable though, just gotta spend a lot of coin. I've always been intrigued by the Rotrex superchargers as they're extremely simple and no-bullshit N/A reliable on track, but if you're planning a SM build one day I totally get sticking to the path and going with what works for you.
Took me a second on the plate but I love it... excited to see your progress with the car!

No dont supercharge your track car they are inherently bad and you will spend more time fixing the car then driving it on track. You are just asking for trouble boosting a car that isn't from factory on track. Duh.

Opinion on these? My hood release is finicky, so I'd rather have aerocatches than fight to fix something that will go away eventually anyway. On the flipside, I want locking ones just for extra security. Don't know how well these stack up to standard aerocatches.

They are a solid pain to install the first time you do it. Otherwise I like mine. I'd be a little concerned about the locks freezing up in cold/icy weather, but how much are you opening your hood in ice storms anyway?

Yeah, cutting through the hood makes me nervous but it won't be too hard to replace if it goes catastrophically wrong. And it's garaged, so that is some protection against ice.
Just waiting for this damn rollbar to ship, need to cross post vendors that use paypal to the "grinds my gears" thread.
