I guess I didn't look hard enough last night, only saw a couple that were $40K and didn't look much more.
I was also looking at 308s, I feel like they were dropping into the 35K range not long ago, seem to be on the upswing.
328's are in bizarro territory now, but I don't know if that price jump has hit 308's as hard. Makes me wonder if I should jump on the 355 or 360 bandwagon now...

R32 GTR would have been my second answer. always, always wanted one personally. i feel like you're going to pay a lot for one with a questionable history and probably close to stock power just on the basis of how popular they are to import now.
and i wouldn't even consider a GTS because the Silvia does everything it can do, better, as a RWD car.
Lotus 7 is a great call too. at that point its pretty much like riding a superbike anyway, so maybe you'd feel right at home in it.

guys who were thinking about the 930-generation Porsches this same way 15 years ago are probably kicking their own asses right now.
i know you know all this, but 355 is the last of the old school Ferraris IMO, and wins on cool points. 360 was the first of the new wave, and probably the best driver from a maintenance standpoint. how much do you want to drive it around is the question, i guess?

I mean if you're gonna buy a 'rari you could budget in for a lift and some specialty tools and do the engine-outs on the 355 yourself. The lady that moderates /r/cars does that on hers. You'd have to be ok with having the car torn down for a while, but I'd rather look at a 355 in pieces every couple of years vs. looking at the sad, melted styling of the 360 everyday.

I used to love the 360s and still do when I see one done well. But yeah the styling definitely leaves something to be desired.

Whoah guys, nobody's getting a Viper or F355/360 for $25K unless it's in undriveable shape. And have fun with that super rough extra high mileage Z06.
My vote *would* be the Exocet, as that's what I'd do with $25K, but that's more like a 4-wheel motorcycle. Kicks all supercar ass, but not a supercar.
You CAN get a decent Boxster S though. I'll take that and stomp on everything else mentioned here except maybe the RX7 if it doesn't blow up.

What are Mondials going for these days? That's probably the closest you can get to the traditional definition of a supercar with that budget. Yeah, it's the ugliest, slowest and cheapest Ferrari, but that's sort of like dating the girl that got last place in the Miss Universe pageant.

Quick search looks like they are in 35K+ range and like the 308s, I'm pretty sure they were much cheaper not long ago. And dare I say, not quite as ugly as I remember and with back seats, could be a DD.

Very wrong on the Viper, do a quick Craigslist, EBay or Cars.com search. Very easy to find nice examples right around 25g for a first gen. They give me bad thoughts.

Although if we back it up a gen, a nice C5 Z06 can be had for 25K. Probably hard to beat it performance for dollar - certainly not as "nice" as the Porsche though.

Can't be beaten for performance for dollar. Hell, the C5 Z06 is STILL the one to have for autocross (C6 Z06 and Grand Sport and C5 Z06 are in same class)
If you dont mind smelling glue and fiberglass on sunny days, mold on rainy days; and dropping 4 feet to sit down; they are one of the most fantastic cars ever for the price point. When you drop the hammer, you won't be looking anywhere (like thankfully the awful interior) but where you are going. Things happen quickly.

I looked into them a bit, the main detractors are high insurance and bodywork repair costs (the front hood clamshell can run 10g). Mechanically they are almost agricultural and pretty stout.
