I think it'd be hard to adapt a lot of designs on a boxy car like the E36 though. I see a bunch of designs out there that almost rely on curves to make them work.

No real mascot or flag, have to contingency and sponsors on there. I have no idea on theme.

Pretty much has to have:

NASA stickers (can be diecut in color scheme)
GTS2
BFGoodrich over the wheel wells
Raail Performance Coatings on each side of car including F/R
MM somewhere on it.

I am massively underqualified with Photoshop to generate something decent looking, however, Forza ain't a bad way to mock something up.





I don't love you enough to mimic all your decals, and Forza makes the colors for the wheels slightly different than the other stuff, but if you squint you can imagine what the real thing would look like. I think trying to mimic the grill surround would look shitty on the E36, but I think it'd look pretty good if you just spray bombed the mesh grill insert.

If you still can't decide you should boot up Forza and dick around, you ought to be able to mimic at least the basic color schemes you're thinking of. I vote for this one or the 80's DTM M color livery that Goody posted.

Thank you everyone, great page of great suggestions. I love the John Player edition as well, that is realllly tempting. Joey also did me the huge favor of doing that scheme in Forza and I think it would turn out great!!

Unfortunately I dont have an xbox/forza to play around on.

I am hard-pressed on what I should do grabber blue up front. I agree the grill looks kind of funky. How about the foglights, and then just the front nose piece grill sorroundds (not the actual grill in the nose piece, but the sorround? (chrome part in forza)

I think the kidney grills would look good, spraying the mesh of the grill insert would look good, the fog light deletes might look good.

blue kidney surrounds and run the rocker stripe up the side of the front bumper, terminating with fog light deletes/ducts

If it were my car, I'd leave the kidneys chrome with black slats, as they are from the factory. If you do paint them, I would do as Joey/Scotty said and just do the chrome surround. Leave the slats black. If you do the foglight brake duct thingies, I would also do the mesh lower grill piece (assuming you still have it).

Would you go blue splitter and blue wing side panels?

I don't think I'd do it but another alternative would be to do the stock body side molding blue all the way around the car.

The body molding would look bad, every time someone messes with that it always comes out poorly. It was popular to body-match them a few years ago when people wanted their E36s to look like E46s.

I'd definitely do the wind side panels, Forza wouldn't let me do that. The splitter or front lip might look good, kinda hard to imagine without seeing it.
