So Destiny 2 beta is underway and even as a beta it has completely captivated our crew. A lot of great stuff...the visuals are improved, the mechanics seem improved and the storyline is awesome. It feels fleshed out. You can really only do one story mission, one strike and two crucible match types but we have wore all of those out already in less than a day. Bungie is gonna have a winner on its hands.

We consolidated a few clans and created a new one (Praedyth's Dimepieces) since clans will be much more important in D2. If any of you guys decide to get back into it on PS4 let me know and I can add you to the clan.

Edit: Yeah I was just told you have to request an invite to the clan, I can't send one...that's the way they set up the system for some reason. Once you send the request and its approved you have to manually set it as your clan in your Bungie.net profile

So I played the Destiny 2 beta a little bit over the weekend and I honestly didn't really like it. Losing special weapons is less fun to me. Carrying two primaries really doesn't amount to a more fun experience in either PvE or PvP.

I still think PvE could be really cool based on all the new content that's coming. But I didn't like PvP much at all. Slower paced, weak supers, weak grenades, very slow charging greandes/melees/supers and higher kill times. The higher time to kill means you're pretty much forced to teamshoot, and even if you get the drop on someone it's far easier for them to get away.

Bungie really nerfed the hell out of wide swathes of this game when they really didn't need to. No one was complaining that they were too powerful in PvE mode, it was just the Crucible where people got frustrated with all the insta-kills. In that case they should've just created a playlist with limited abilities and no special or heavy ammo so people who wanted a slow placed game would have something that catered to them.

Anyway, I'm going to cancel my preorder for the collector's edition. I'll wait to see reviews to figure out if I'm going to buy the full game.

To be fair, Titanfall is a lot easier to balance than Destiny just based on the pure math of the matter. Destiny has many, many combinations of class perks, weapons perks, and weapons to balance. Titanfall has a very small pool of weapons and abilities by comparison.

For Destiny 2, Bungie reduced options so they'd have less permutations to balance. Now instead of being able to configure 8 different perks with 3 options each, you can only choose your grenade and jump (3 options each), then 1 of 2 fixed sets of perks. They went from 6561 combinations of perks per subclass to just 18.

That doesn't bother me a ton. I think it will reduce replay value but it won't kill the fun in the short term. I just hate that they removed special weapons, weakened supers and grenades and slowed down movement speed, in addition to removing 6v6 playlists. Just big steps backwards in areas the game didn't need it.

Oh absolutely, and what's more, you don't have some angry playerbase who spent days grinding for a god roll PvE gun only to have the shit nerfed into oblivion because a bunch of tryhards were able to eek out a .00001% advantage over their opponents.

It sounds like they are going to reduce the grind significantly for D2 and the streamlined perks will make it much easier to just dive in, so those are pluses depending on your preferences. I'm in the same boat lately where I don't really have the time or desire to grind for the perfect item. I do like the perk diversity in D1 because it allows me to have fun with different playstyles.

I mean it's beta, they're still hashing out a lot of things. There was some stuff I didn't like about it too but overall it's going to be a great game. What they really need to do is figure out the PvE/PvP balance with super building and ammo economy. IE having a sniper rifle as a Power weapon is going to make boss fights a lot harder. If nothing else, keep your collector's edition preordered and flip that janks on eBay because someone will definitely pay you more for it than it's worth.

That said, I put a good number of hours into the beta and I genuinely believe it's going to be much bigger, have a much more rich story, have much better visuals and the finished version will have much better gameplay than before. It will also be MUCH more welcome to newcomers or people who don't play a lot, which is what I think the biggest non-Destiny player gripe is.

If the trade in amount isn't satisfactory, check out selling your items as a third party seller. I've dumped so much random computer equipment that way, including things like old video cards. I've found it to be the best way to find niche markets that craigslist doesn't perform well at.

Craigslist does seriously suck for small electronics. I didn't get a single bite on my router until about an hour after I dropped it off at the post office to mail to Amazon. Here was the email verbatim:
