We go side by side into T1, completely even. Im on the outside and at the very edge of the track. He tracks out and bumps me. No big deal. I pass him, and the next lap he passes me on the straight and gives me the finger as he does.
After the race I asked him what that was about, and he proceeds to cause a scene and start yelling right in the middle of the paddock lane about how I hit him, how its my fault, how I had no right to be there, etc. He even said at one point that I turned in on him. I told him with equal stern-ness that we were side by side, I had every righ t to be there and if blame was to be assigned, it was he who tracked out into me. I grabbed my video but he had no interest in seeing it (ie- the truth) I went around to several people and showed them the video, including Alex and asked for honest opinion. Every one of them said either racing-no big deal, or he tried to squeeze me. I had a great time, it was probably some of the most fun Ive had in a race, but it really left a sour taste in my mouth and spoiled any good feeling I had about the race

I was waiting for you to land one to his temple. There were 5-6 of us just standing behind him waiting for you two to throw down. His ass would have been dirt so fast he would be wishing it was a miata that hit him.

Great weekend! Despite blowing both front shocks the XR community came through with some replacement Koni yellows! Wow huh?
Perfect weather, good crowd, and my car is home in almost prerace condition. I'm more rejuvinated today than I have been in a long time. Thanks to RJ for the tips. I consider my first HPDE 3 experience a success due to survival, passing lots, and getting passed rarely. Time to get the suspension on the car done right and get some real tires.

John did a fantastic job and I got a kick out of the moonbounce comment. Thanks also to Pete and Allison for getting him to announce my birthday, that was very nice.
I had a very good weekend. The 240 took the abuse like a champ, I got to play with my lines and adjust corner entry/exit routes, which was really interesting. I love group 3 in that we can pass anywhere (usually me getting passed, but whatever), and I even managed to sack up enough to do some position changes in the carousel and turn 9 by the end of sunday (refused to do that ever before and was the only place on that track that I was nervous before this weekend)

Dave Wrote:turn 9 by the end of sunday (refused to do that ever before and was the only place on that track that I was nervous before this weekend) You have big sack if you can pass around the outside of T9 without even lifting. Miatas make good practice for this. I still lift a little.

the most I ever did was a pass on the inside of 9. The hardest part about it was that it was a miata who didn't seem to really want to give it up, so it was hard for me to determine when I was past them, so I stayed on the inside through 10 as well. Fun experience, but showed me that I've got a lot to learn in terms of placement of my car in relation to the rest of the track. I'm so used to people blowing by me in an instant, it was a whole new experience to actually pass somebody, not to mention that we were hanging together for so long.
