Just catch a black snake and relocate him to your crawlspace, you'll never see another mouse again.

Saferacks from Costco, watch for em to come on sale for $250 which is usually every other month and online only. It is the best option for wire racks IMO. 2 - 4x8 platforms, each with I think a 600lb capacity and comes with the $100 hook pack.
Just need a drill and a tall enough ladder, done. ![]() I really need a taller ladder, that is a 6ft, and it is sketchy trying to put one of the big containers up there.

Thanks yeah, I think they have that one on Amazon too which is what I was looking at. A little more expensive, but we don't have a costco membership so I'd have to pay for that too. Your garage also looks a little taller than mine so I may wall mount mine on the house-side instead of over the garage doors

So if you get them, get the ones with the longest legs, that way you can adjust as much as you want, I think each leg is like 2ft long? And can adjust in 1in increments.

Thanks Justin I appreciate it!
I went ahead and ordered an additional tree today. I'd rather have that last one in there for coverage than have to pay for another trip charge and have one tree shorter than the others when we inevitably decide that we should have done it in the first place We also had $50 in rewards credits with the nursery from the original project so that helped!

I think we know where the mice were coming from...
![]() Are you kidding me? I've got an earful for the construction manager when I see him again. This is the guy sticking a zip tie out from the floor behind the stove... Oh also, thank God our exterminator was a former HVAC tech, when we pulled back the oven he smelled gas. There was a slow leak at the fixture: ![]() It's such a shame that the PM who took over this house did such a poor job on the QC. It's such a beautiful house in an awesome neighborhood but our section in particular has had problems that you should catch during the construction phase. LIKE A GD HOLE IN THE WALL I've got steel wool all plugged up in the hole from both ends but have to swing by Lowes tonight to get some concrete to fill the gap. I'm not waiting for the warranty department to get to this.

I've owned a few homes in my day and I can tell you that most new construction is shit and these things are not uncommon.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

That sucks but I can't say I'm surprised. It's all about how fast they can roll through a development now. Neighbors of my parents found a pair of sweat pants in one of their heating ducts....that's not even a normal mistake you might make!

dude that's horrible. i bet your heating bill will drop nicely now that you aren't blowing half of it out a huge gash in your floor! i would definitely dress that PM down for that excuse for a job worth signing off on.
i don't blame you for not waiting around. i dealt with mice in our last rental home and nothing again will ever set me on a freakin vindictive jihad like the war i waged against those little bastards. i hated every day of it and i probably have mouse PTSD now i'm in the same boat with the QC stuff though. our McHouse probably went up in a week. it looks nice, love the area but Lord help us if a serious storm ever comes through here because our house will just explode into dust. unfortunately that's how everything is built in this area unless we wanted to pay 1/2M or more.

If so it could also be an engineering / structural concern (albeit a tiny one). On a lighter note, dudebros are hauling away our old Craigslist washer / dryer and delivering some new Maytag hotness today. Trees go in tomorrow! Here's the before from my man cave / office window: ![]() You can see a faint final stake without a flag on the far right representing the additional tree we bought, which is where we pulled the flag from that went in on the end of the "hook" shape on the far left. There is 20ft from the far right stake to the lot line, which should be perfect because the natural forest that will remain should cover the rest. You can see why we were keen to get some privacy up; we back to the new townhome section and they will be framing that next building directly ahead probably this week. To the right a ways is our next neighbor and then forward and to the right is all protected state land / hiking trail area (Carolina Thread Trail). You can also see the lights from the baseball / soccer fields way back there too.

well it looks like we found the source of your mouse visitors, ha. that field probably has 100 of them.
nice job on the Maytags...we have them too, Centennial "commercial technology" models that don't have the stupid energy saving BS that takes twice the water to get everything the same level of clean. we've abused them for a good 7 years now, no problems yet. hope its the same story for you.

Washer / Dryer delivery successful, except for the fact that I noticed that they crushed the drain hole to our washer overflow pan when then put the washing machine down. No big deal they're like $20 at Lowe's but I filed a claim anyway. They also gave me brand new water lines and a dryer vent even though I didn't order them so I can't be too mad. NEVER A DULL MOMENT! Let's see how this tree installation goes, maybe they'll dig up a dead body or something when they break ground tomorrow

They made those guys dig the holes by hand? Wow. You think with an order like that they could bring a small backhoe or tractor to speed up the work.
