that's exactly what I'm paying the extra $300 for.
Don't worry Rex, I still like you. And I'll try both bootcamp and VMware. I appriciate you telling me about it.
It's not that. If you can stand dual booting, by all means do so. It will give you the best performance, and I never said otherwise. Everybody (including myself) is just "swinging their proverbial IT dicks around" (to quote a concerned party). I was just pissed because Mike, Chad, and Myself (along with a bunch of other people) work in the IT field, and we're all qualified, knowledgeable individuals, and I was of the (possibly mistaken) understanding that opinions and alternatives were equally valid. But, I wouldn't run VMWare with something like R2 until they can figure out how to use the physical graphics card instead of virtualizing it. But they've come along way, and there are alot of games I wouldn't think twice about playing on a VM, and there are alot of benefits to using said virtual platform, especially when VMWare is in the habit of giving away their products.
But don't listen to me, Mike used VMWare once and tried to play solitaire and it SUCKED.
Son, we use something here that is about 2 generations ahead of VMWare, we use it on top of SELinux to run windows, soliars, another instance of linux and a custom OS, all at the same time, also they can be run at different classification levels (just so you understand how subdivided the VMs are). It just isn't possible to directly access the hardware in a VM like you can natively. Everything in a VM has to pass through several levels before it can get at the hardware, and those levels MUST understand the command to interpert it correctly, do you see a new version of VMware coming out when a new copy of DirecX does or NVidia driver does? No, so it will NEVER even get close to the level of performance modern games need. VM's have their place, 3D games is not one of them.
