Sharing is caring/Alumni-Current student relations
#70
Some of this has been said by others, some hasn't. But here's how I feel.

I don't really care who thinks they don't like who on this forum, and if there's any bad blood between us, I certianly never have seen it at an event or party. There's plenty of people I have yet to meet that are on this forum, and even if someone soudns like a jackass here, it's almost always different in person. So I hope you too all take most of what's said on this forum with a grain of salt. Of course, I haven't been around in VA much in the last 3 years. So for the most part, I don't really know WTF we're talking about and it seems to have been blown a little out of proportion.

The only thing I really care to say is that I hope the current crop of officers feel like they have some duty to pull students away from jackassery and wasting money on bling. If we're still having car shows, parties, whatever, that's great. I agree each crop of officers should get to make their mark on the club and find new directions in which to take it, especially if that's what the current crop of students want. And we should be having fun! But if the core reason that the club is called Madison MOTORSPORTS is comepletely lost, then we've all failed.

I don't mean this to offend anyone, but if you have absolutely no interest in ever going to the track, attending an autocross, drag racing, rallycrossing, helping at events, watching races, studying setup and driving theory, learning more about your car/bike/truck, how to work on it, and how to make the most of its potential, nothing like that, then I wish you'd do us a favor and go start your own club. If you don't know a damn thing about motorsports, or your car, and you don't know any of us, but you've heard of the club, and have some vague idea of what it is that we do, and maybe that's something you'd like to do, then I hope you hang around. And I hope MM always makes it a goal to greet you and show you what some of us have learned.

Oh. The biggest thing that's eating me right now is the "campus events" section of this forum. I wish it didn't exist. Heck, I probably would have stopped by the party last night on my way through h-burg. Hell, I always stop there for gas, maybe a cruise through campus, a visit to Mt. ISAT and "my" solar panels, and this time for some good 'ol Dave's Taverna. mmmmm...... But I didn't know about it! Why? Because there's a section on this forum where I'm clearly not welcome, so I don't bother reading it. And I could certianly see how a new student/member would think the same way about the rest of the forum.
