I was just plugging him as a mechanic, really. Getting his certifications was one of the best things he ever did for himself. He just finished up bike school and I'm pretty proud of him.
For the folks that don't know: The third regulator/rectifier that the VFR had seen consumed itself on the trip down to the Burg. The battery saw extended periods of 25V+ charging and subsequently died out. I've got 3 or 4 busted-ass batteries at my house now and I'm pretty tired of it. It could have been a lot of different things causing the repeated failures and it just became not worth it anymore.
Big thanks to RJ for his tools, time, and space. This probably wouldn't have been possible without him. Oh, and thanks for the ride home, too!
