in my experience with Flowmaster 40 (current) and Dynomax mufflers, Flowmaster has better top end performance. i've gone between the two a few times and always "feel" better overall performance with the Flowmaster 40. only drawback, it's louder. i've been wanting to go to something else myself, but i'm afraid to loose too much. i actually had a N1 style canister on the truck at one also 
it was under the bed, so you couldn't see it, but it sounded nice and performed almost identical to the Flowmaster with less noise.
i've seen lots of people with Magnaflow, must be for a good reason. my vote
