Got a flat front tire on the bike today
Took the bike out at lunchtime, and on my way back the front end felt a little off - i pull into a gas station to check the tire pressure, and as I did the valve stem popped off
The previous owner had this happen on the rear tire, and replaced the valve stem before I bought it - so maybe its a coincidence.
So, I had it towed over to my work - I called AAA and while they would not cover the tow (I need to upgrade my plan - again) but they would arrange for a tow truck to come out, and promised I would get a phone call from them with costs and such... no phone call, however after an hour of waiting the guy shows up and its $100 + $4/mile (4 miles) - If I had known this, I would have probably left the bike there and paid the cashier $50 to look after it until the evening. Fucking great. I was already away from work for 1.5 hours, had a lot of shit to do, the tow truck was already there and I wasnt leaving it at a gas station so the bike could get jacked since I was not sure when I'd be able to get it back, so I went to the ATM and paid the man - and the motherfucker managed to crack a piece off the fairing when he tied it down - I started to get pissed off and the guy said "whats the matter" and I'm like "dude, you just cracked the fairing" and he says "oh... sorry". I called AAA and complained about this and they said they are going to look into it, and if nothing else cover the cost of the tow, which I guess would cover new fairings if I could find a set on ebay.
So, I guess the new owner will get a new front tire to go along with the new rear tire I already put on it - I could replace the valve stem, but I can get a new tire for $50 on ebay and with the cost of mounting and balancing not much sense in dealing with that on a pretty worn out tire anyways.
