loans are great, as long as you don't get one thats too big. IF you have a good credit history, you can finance a $2000 and pay like $50/month, which really isn't that bad. Furthermore, if you've got a good chunk saved up, thats an additional $2000 in mods or even a better car that will be available with a loan.
Not to mention the benefits of building a strong credit history. Two years ago they laughed at me when I said I wanted an $8000 loan on a 9 year old car. Now, I can walk in and tell them how much I want and don't have to say a word.
