Even so, if we can break even with the car (tranny nonwithstanding) I think the rest (yes, even the engine) can be done for 2005 dollars. I saw an excellent set of high comp pistions and rods for 100 bucks, could find dave's suspension for less than 400 (I'm certain!) and if dave relents to Q45 brakes, (as opposed to Z brakes) then those could be had for 300 dollah! Or less. 
But I think it's an excellent platform for this kind of race. The show will be the hardest part.
