A decent electric impact is ~$150, while a cheap air impact is $30 / cheap compressor is under $100 - but you get what you pay for.
A decent compressor will be a couple hundred dollars + hose costs + coupling costs + $5 of air compressor oil 8) . The good thing is that you can run lots of cooooool toooooools off of it interchangeably. Bad thing is that a compressor takes up a lot of space and a while to set up before use (if you don't keep in a personal garage).
An electric impact is not going to be as powerful as a good air one, but it is convenient (plug and play), and mine seems to be holding up well (Craftsman) / is plenty powerful for what I have needed it for.
