The latest headlines are lamenting about all of the "survivors" in New Orleans who are "stranded" in the Superdome convention center and living under squalid conditions next to corpses and feces etc etc etc.

Well no fucking shit, when the mayor of a city orders a full evacuation, it's probably a good idea to pack up your shit and leave. Even if you have nowhere else to go other than the shithole you used to live in heh. Those people are either very very very unfortunate or (more likely) very very very retarded.

How pray tell are you going to evacuate the city when you are poor and don't own a car? Walk?

What is really disturbing to me is that the National Guard/Military presence hasn't ramped up fully yet. On one of the news broadcasts a FEMA rep was saying they didn't even know there were people trying to take shelter at the convention center until today.

I'm hoping that they really get things under control in the next 24 hours because at day 4 people are really going to start succumbing to dehydration, exhaustion, and chronic illness.
