More roads won't solve the problem. More roads equals more intersections, which means more commute time. What they need are smarter roads with lights that are patterned to flow with traffic and better policies for fender benders and police. Have you noticed that a cop pulling somebody over for an expired tag or a minor fender bender will cause a 5 mile backup?

Where in Arlington are you? You should probably be taking GW Parkway home, not 495 all the way to 66...
