I've been looking for cars as well and honestly, god damn 240's are a gamble these days. The prices are inflated like hell and it's damn near impossible to find one that hasn't been beaten to death. Though there's one on CL that needs a MAF/Intake, guy is asking 1k.
If you've got the cojones, I would get a Miata. They're RWD, low powered hence safe, 50/50 balance and from what I've seen, they look like they're pretty easy to work on. The only downside is that your peoples will clown you for it.
I actually found one with a supercharger but it was in such horrendous condition that I had to pass up on it. Not to mention, boosted miatas are a little scary to drive.
I opted for a MKII MR2 which I'm picking up this weekend if that whore doesn't fuck around again.
