The 04 WRX's have a new system where the front shocks build up and store pressure that is then released when you press on the brakes. This is similar to a brake booster on some cars. Subaru just does it a little different. You don't have to bleed the brakes to change springs, only when you change shocks, but if you change springs you will need new brake pads and washer fluid.
