I deferred this year's reg to next year's race. Its a great event I've done it a few times, the trails are super rad - lots of berms and flow.
prep wise, dont worry about it, but go over the bike thoroughly - check your chain, tire sealant, etc, you dont want that stuff to ruin your day. you'll want to get a few longer rides under you this winter, 3 hours racing on singletrack takes some getting used to.
