No, just tempting to pocket $10k and order a new one for next season. We didn’t though.
A boat is expensive, from the purchase to the accessories, but goddamn it’s awesome. Even better during covid as it’s the perfect COVID activity. As soon as you pull away from the dock, you are on vacation. The phones get put away (for the most part, we pull them out for photos/videos), and you can’t worry about what’s at home, chores, work etc. it’s just straight one on one time with family. It’s a straight 180 from racing which is so self centered but my wife still misses going to the track too.
It was mid-80s yesterday and we jumped on the boat after leaving work early. We already miss being on the boat as the past two weekends have been cold.
Club vs owning depends on your situation. We have a boat lift and can just drop in the water at any time. No calling ahead and scheduling, no 4 hour time slots, no getting back at a certain time. That said, a club gets new boats every year, you don’t care about maintenance or cleaning, and no storage or trailer (we just keep ours on the lift but that’s not possible for most people).
