Check out this video explaining the creation of the Supra/Z4. I had zero knowledge of this car and this was pretty eye opening. Toyota worked hand in hand during development. They didn't just farm it out a la badge engineering. It was to the point that BMW engineers were getting frustrated with how much testing Toyota put into every part even down to different bolts and fasteners in their quest for reliability. Anyone still claiming it's all BMW hasn't done any research other than looking at the car.
