Okay, you're really telling me she has never heard of a garbage disposal? Is Yorktown Heights on well water? I thought she spent much of her upbringing in the Bronx. They surely have garbage disposals.

And yes, Ms. Green New Deal, garbage disposals are environmentally sound as the food does not go sit in a landfill. She has to be acting at this point.

Apparently they were banned in NYC until she was 8 and then not really common after that....

BUT as many have pointed out, she spent part of her childhood in Westchester County and went to college in Boston.

The best internet comment I saw was "I've never used a nuclear bomb, space shuttle, or oil rig but I'm aware they exist."

If Westchester is similar to Long Island, then there was (is?) a law that mandated that garbage disposals couldn't be in your only sink. Meaning you needed a double sink in order to have one, so they were/are super uncommon. I personally never dealt with one first hand until college. 

But yeah - you knew what they were.

I had never used one and didn't understand how to use one until college.
