The MM Network
Met again with my manager last week and was told that they "can't afford to lose me" so they need me to stay on the team until Q4 2019 or Q1 of 2020 before I can move to another team. I tried to very politely and directly say that a move sooner than that is beneficial to everyone if they'd like my knowledge to be available to the team since they can always reach out to me on another team for help IF I'm still with the company. I don't really think my manager understands the subtleties of English well enough to pick up my idle threat, and I'm not comfortable saying any more bluntly that I'm looking elsewhere since I'd actually really like to stay within the company. So, I'm biding my time and still applying elsewhere while I continue to do my job and do my best to not rock the boat, keep my head down, and just do my job.

Another person on the team that started after me quit this week (they haven't announced it yet and I'm the only non manager that knows) so now I'm actually back to being the newest person on my specific team even though I've been there 2 years. My team in HQ is now 5 people, where as it was 5 when I joined and 6 people have quit in that same time. So they're definitely desperate to keep me. My "Goals" for 2019 was to basically train everyone on the niche knowledge I've amassed over 2 years.

They've kept telling me that they'd be happy if I changed my mind and decided to stay and they also dangled the idea that I will be promoted TWO times up to Senior Engineer if I stay until 2020, but at this point, I don't trust them at all. My GF is the one that left this week and she's been telling me how absolutely rude and hostile they've been now that's she's leaving unexpectedly. I'm sure their management is really bearing down on them since my company has doubled in size from 2000 to 4000 since I've started, yet my team in HQ hasn't been able to retain anyone. The 4 people hired after me that I was supposed to pass on all of my knowledge to all left, including one extremely good engineer they really counted on staying, and also 2 senior engineers left for better pay/hours/work.

What a mess.
