I don't disagree at all, but I do kind of like the idea of something Vehicross/Alltrac-ish, where it's not some blocky truckthing jacked up on 36's, but a 4WD car with some clearance and locking diffs, so that least some overland/two track shit wasn't out of the question. 

I at least understand the appeal of something like this if it were real, but these weird renders dont' make any fuckin' sense to me.

That's no too far off from the old Local Motors Rally Fighters, except they had like twice the displacement.
