"home false sense of security" :P

She said it holds a charge for about 3 weeks. Might be a hassle to charge it once a month, but may be less of a hassle then wiring it up.

Ring has the internal battery options, Nest isn't there yet. The lock is battery operated and can be jumped with a 9v to enter a pin and get in the house if you're dumb enough to let it die completely. The only part that makes me nervous is drilling the hole into the interior so I can run wires to an outlet. I trust myself to get it done but I'm not sure I can do it pretty.

Current plan is to come at it from the inside, drywall is a lot easier to fix than cedar siding. I'll probably cut a small window in the drywall so I'm not working blind and go from there. I'd like to just run the wires to the outlet by the door but I'm sure there's a stud in the way. I may just run the wires straight down to something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Eaton-1-Gang.../203492457 and just route it along the baseboard to make it easy/idiotproof. Not sure there's a better way to make 2 small wires coming out of drywall appear more presentable.
