Official word from Ray about the autocross events this weekend.
"OK, so I looked at 3 different weather sites wunderground.com (5-8 inches for Saturday), weather.com (3-5 inches for Saturday) and NOAA forecast.weather.gov (calling for snow, but not giving an amount for Saturday) All three call for a sunny day with a high in the upper 40's for Sunday. Personally, I wouldn't want to autocross on Saturday if any of them are right. I'm the event chairman so in consultation with the rest of the board, its my call. First, I know that if we have the event on Saturday, most of you are crazy enough to come. If we all had good sense, we would have probably chosen a different hobby. Would it be fun to slide our cars around in slushy mess? Heck yeah, but would it be a championship worthy event, or be safe for workers and drivers? I think that is debatable, but I'm leaning toward "no". I'm also concerned about safety on the trip to the event. The easy thing for me to do is to hold the event and let each of you make your own decision about whether to come or not. If I do that I don't have to refund your entry fee if you don't come. While that might ease the financial burden on the region, I think it would also buy a lot of ill will. My current thinking is to revisit the weather forecasts on Friday morning and make a decision about Saturday by noon on Friday. In any case, I think Sunday will go on as scheduled. Let me know what you think"
