The 2 downsides of Tungsten rings are they are heavy (if you care about that) and you run the risk of doctors not being able to cut the ring off of you if you mangle your hand in an accident because of the hardness of the metal.

This was another reason I switched to silicone for the most part.  Google images of "degloving" and it will scar you a bit from wearing tungsten haha

you think a gold ring won't deglove your finger?

I mean yeah. If you're in a profession/circumstance where you work with machines or something, maybe don't wear a metal ring (or a ring at all) but I work at a computer screen, and I take my jewelry off when I operate power tools. Risk mitigated.

Ha yeah I wasn't saying that tungsten was the only one that could do it, but even stuff like car accidents could put you at risk with a metal ring.  Plus I personally find the silicone rings a million times more comfortable and lighter to wear.  I was starting to see the chrome on my truck door handle and the paint on the exterior handle was getting scratched up from my tungsten rings.  And since we are in the watch thread, they were scratching the crap out of the casebacks of my watches if I forgot to take the ring off first which you may or may not care about if you have a nicer timepiece
