Tarmac rally is where I'm thinking of heading. None of these cars have the crappy US bumpers, so maybe the first thing to think about is getting rid of them. It's possible to look good with them (first pic I posted) but they look so much better without. It's already got underbumper fog lights, so maybe replacing the nose and moving the wiring into the trunk for a set of lights could work. The rear defogger has never worked, despite replacing solenoids, so maybe that's a good time to get it better looked at.
I'd like to leave the wheels and suspension alone, but it floats pretty good at highway speeds. It's not a big problem, but if I want to money pit the thing this is where to spend it. Maybe I'll just put some flaps and baseboard graphics on to pretend it's got a lot of money dumped into it?

On the driving bit - I need to find actual events that force me to get out of the city. There is no car culture in Seattle proper, so everything is a drive outside the city in the early mornings. I'd rather find some family-friendly events that let you unwind the car a bit, but without being timed. The real problem is I don't want to have to choose between my kid and the car, because there's no way to get him safely in the car. The wife doesn't care if I do car stuff, but she ain't gonna bring a support vehicle just so my son can come with. I you really want to feel sorry for me, I'll tell you I got fly fishing gear for Christmas and I haven't used it yet.
