Deloitte is 45 hours minimum to hit your utilization target, part of the up or out mentality. Been offered direct positions multiple times (I am internal finance and don't need to meet utilization) and rarely work those hours.
I have given up a lot of salary over the years for work life balance. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it's not. Things are going to get a bit tougher with the wife not working but we are also moving to a cheaper area.
Most my competent friends have edged me out in salary; make sure your ego can handle it. They are also the same ones that bitch constantly about 60-80 hour work weeks and working weekends. They will be partners and tons of money; by the time they are too old to enjoy it
