Alrighty, all was well with Mrs. B up until 2 Thursdays ago.
It was 4pm on a well lit, clear day in Waynesboro, Va and the workday was going as expected. So I'm off to my break now and I decide to run up the mountain to get some gourmet popcorn. Mmm delicious. And then it was time to head back down, so I fire it up and *thud*thud*thud coming from the engine bay and it goes with the speed of the motor. I get back to work and now it sounds even louder and concerning. It sounded like a bad motor. Just about gave me a heart attack that lasted a couple days.
Then I drove it home and went away for the weekend. Thanks for the loaner Dave!
Monday - Wednesday i didn't get a chance to get into it. The sound also got very quiet. Still drove.
Thursday. It's making a wracket. So I meet up with Scott down in Waynesboro and we're going through it trying to find the issue, then his dad pops by and hears/looks at the car and spotted the crank pulley wobbling around. Oh my. So Scott tightens up the pulley bolts, fired it up and silence! Holy smokes, I was relieved.
We didn't use a torque wrench at Scott's place so I decided I was gonna go over it with a torque wrench to make sure the specs are good. I gave it like 1/5 of a turn and head of the bolt just lays it's head down in the pulley. Yaaayyy
So first I decided I was gonna leave it and take it to a shop, but then I went to bed and developed confidence, greeaaaaatttt. So then i decided what I'll do is take off the pulley, extract the bolt with it off, get new bolts and put her back on.
I got the pulley off, another one of the crank pulley bolts broke, the woodruff key looks nothing like it should and might even be broken and everything is generally just ugly down there. Also the big crank pulley bolt was too easy to get loose with the size ratchet I was using. I don't think it was on properly. I have no idea what in the world has happened down here and I sure as heck can't fix it. Calling shops tomorrow to have someone get the bolts out and put the pulley back on properly. Guess I'll need a tow, can anyone in hburg can help with that?![[Image: 16c49aaf1c36d1e9c0639282f1f163e2.jpg]](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170710/16c49aaf1c36d1e9c0639282f1f163e2.jpg)
