My family has netflix and other than their originals (which are getting better and more abundant) I dislike the selection, or I've watched all of the shows/movies I'm interested in. Since they're moving more towards their original content they've also removed a ton of great stuff on there.
We had it for a week and the only thing we watched that we hadn't already seen was four episodes of Stranger Things. Everything else was replay space filler. Same goes for Amazon... for the most part. The only reason we have that is because we have Prime shipping. Streaming definitely isn't there yet.
That said, I use for XB1 for all my non-streamed content.... so, I agree purpose built HTPCs are dying.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
