Today was a fun day. The other day I was about to back into a spot and the realized I forgot to hit CVS on the way home so I kept going around while in neutral. Well i dunno what happened but i forgot to push the clutch and muscle memory kicked in and I slipped it into first anyway. About 2 seconds later I had a small heart attack realizing what happened and remembered that I used to do that in my first car. My first car was a 5 speed corolla and the gearbox was super rubbery and i could effortlessly go all the way up to 5 and back without the clutch. I never did it again after that because the e36 grinded the one time i tried it. WELL I was bored at home today and the weather was just peachy so, i spent the entire day playing with it today in the Miata and its not as easy as it was in the Corolla but she'll do it. I can downshift for any gear and i can upshift from 1 -> 2 but no other. I got 2 -> 3 once but only once. No one really talks about doing this, anyone else play with omitting the third pedal?
Disclaimer before y'all hop on me: i use the clutch 99.99999% of the time, i have to really pay attention to the revs and speed to pull this off. And no i haven't grinded it, or plan to do it often.
